  I think I would try and make a nuclear reactor! There are some guides online on how to make your own at-home fusion reactor which is just mind blowing to me. Here is an example of a site – http://www.instructables.com/id/Build-A-Fusion-Reactor/ This sort of thing was absolutely cutting edge maybe fifty years ago, and the fact that you could probably do this with just £5000 is just amazing!
