• Question: Do you think the roll up TV will be like the camera? Do you think it will start off everybody liking it, then it gets easier to use, then the image gets better and now there are video's on camera's. Do you think it will get better and better and then there will be more add on in the future?

Yes! So with TVs it went from rubbish huge TVs called cathode ray tubes, that were heavy and about a metre wide (to charge up the electrons and shoot them through an electric field). then came LED screens, liquid crystal screens and plasma screens, which are much thinner and lighter. Next the OLED, which have even lighter and thinner screens. The curved screen from Samsung is the next step. So eventually we will go to plastic, then HD plastic, then 4K… the list of research opportunities for you when you come to do a PhD is endless !
When you visit Samsung HQ in South Korea you see the entire history of their mobile phones- from wind up, to huge bricks that only text in capitals, to little phones we could hold, to smart phones, to camera phones… It is amazing how quickly we research things that the market wants. When I was a baby, not many people had video cameras. Now everyone you meet has videos of their babies all the time!
