Xenon difluoride is a very reactive source of fluorine gas (even more reactive and toxic!) and we have used once or twice. We tend not to use it though as it’s pretty horrible. We use argon a lot though as it doesn’t react with anything, and so using it instead of doing reactions in air means that it won’t react with the oxygen in the air.
