Footballs are actually a clever shape called a sphere- a 3 D circle. There are different parts of a football, the inside (where we pump the air), the outside shell, the stitching and the lining. Manfucaturers make the balls from leather, the skins of cows, or plastics. There are around 32 different panels made from lots of hexagons (six sided shapes) and pentagons (five sided shapes). We actually use molecules that look like footballs of carbons in my work because they conduct electricity really well. Someone then sews together all of the little patches. Someone then sews in the lining and the rubber center to hole all of the air. The air is in a rubber sphere inside, and we pump it like we do a bike tire.

Football boots are super cool and have been around since Henry VIII in 1526. Until 1891 no one was allowed to wear boots to protect their feet. Adidas made boots what they are today in the 1950s, and put studs inside to hold footballer’s feet to the ground and give them grip and support. The design of boots is just like shoes or modern trainers.
