That is a good question! An embryo is the very beginning of light, and it is just when different forms merge into the next stage that can begin. An embryo forms at the time the egg (oocytes) is fertilized by a single sperm.. Within 12-24 hours the little sperms have to get straight to the eggs and fertilize them, then turn the egg into a form called a ‘zygote’. The fertilized egg grows and divides into lots of cells, then leaves through a special tuble and attaches to the walls of something called the ‘uterus’. Then some clever hormones are released which let the mother and the doctor’s know the mother is pregnant! In the uterus, some of the cells form an embryo, and the heartbeat of the baby starts. After 8 weeks of life the embryo becomes a fetus!
An embryo is made when a sperm barges into an egg. As the egg is fertilized, the DNA of the sperm combines with the DNA of the egg and – presto! – you have an embryo. As the embryo moves to the womb and attaches, the body can create a placenta to feed the baby while it’s in a womans tummy. After about 9 months, the baby is fully grown and ready to be born.
