Hey Alice, it was using a laser to look at the way different molecules are arranged on different surfaces. I was looking at how the devices changes with whether the molecules were standing up or lying down. I used a laser to see the orientation by trying to find some signals from the molecules when they arranged differently- luckily it worked, and it makes better devices!
