Strawberries are ready because of different chemicals inside them. When one of the chemicals inside called anthocyanidin inside it joins with the sugars in strawberries, it changes the colour of light that it reflects. The light it reflects is red. They only get the red colour when they go ripe- so when they just grow they are green because they don’t reflect any red.
