When we get hot exercising or we put our hands in hot water, our body reacts and tries to cool us down because we work best at one specific temperature. The blood vessels all get bigger and we try to radiate the heat away from out skin. That means there is more red blood in our veins, so we look a bit redder.

When you are hot your blood vessels expand. It does this to create a bigger surface area so that your body can cool down quicker and therefore causes your skin to appear more red in colour.
