My role is focused on the development of screen-printed based sensors for the determination of metal ions in human blood and environmental samples. I am also exploring the development of disposable microsensors for the detection of markers of oxidative stress in animals and humans. In conjugation with this, I am undertaking a number of studies utilising HPLC with electrochemical detection/UV and GC/MS to elucidate the environmental degradation and electrochemical redox products of several important drugs and pesticides.
I am the author of over 30 peer reviewed journal papers and have given a number of talks at international conferences.
I have been lucky enough for my role to be focused in both applied and theoretical research for industry and the academic sectors.
I have supervised over 30 student projects and been employed in five industry funded projects, some of which have run for over three years.
