Yes – I have seen a red moon.
They are also known as a lunar eclipse – this is where the moon is directly behind the earth (so the sun – earth – moon are aligned in a straight line!)
I’ve seen a ‘total lunar eclipse’! between 2014 and 2015 there were three, which is super rare. Total lunar eclipses look red because the direct light from the sun is blocked but the still light up the moon. The light has come through the Earth’s atmosphere first so looks red.
