I’ve been working in the lab I’m in for about three years now. Before that I was an undergraduate (somebody who didn’t have a degree) at the University and studied chemistry for four years.

I have also worked as an analytical chemist in an electoplating company and in an aerospace company in charge of their paint dept and electroplating lines.

I’ve been working for nearly 3 years doing my PhD. Before that I did a great research project using our different printing apparatus to print different crystals from my glowing materials. This is called a ‘Masters’ project, which you do after your first subject at university. This was half work and half just solid learning. When I was doing this I learnt lots of different techniques and met lots of great scientists, who I am still working with today.
Before that I was working on physics for three years doing my degree- it was just like school. I had a busy timetable of lectures, lots of homework and exams. I loved my degree though- I learnt so much about space, light, electronics, aeroplanes, different molecules and what is going on in Geneva at the particle accelerator.
