I don’t test any medicines ! I test materials to make bendy electronics and solar panels! Hopefully when we can make bendy circuits we can use them for some human applications though, like printing devices to check your heart rate and blood pressure. We could print them on plastics so we can wrap them around our arms!
I have tested lots of different medicines such as – different tablets, injection solutions, inhalers, nebulisers and even herbal medicines.
I have also looked at vitamin supplements like vitamin C tablets.
Recently, I have been looking at benzodiazepines. These are generally things like sleeping tablets. Presently I have a M.Sc. student investigating something called third hand smoke, using nicotine as a marker. I have also looked for a number of illegal drugs like cannabis and cocaine. One of my other students are looking into the electrochemical detection of legal highs, but we have only just started this. More weirdly I have analysed a number of drugs in river water as tracers for sewage pollution.
